Default Is all of this service necessary?

I just took my 2014 GMC 3500HD diesel in for an oil change. 30,900 miles. Dealer says it needs $2200 worth on service at 30K miles to stay in warranty. Flushing and replacing all fluids...Allison trans, anti-freeze, brake fluid, and a bunch of other stuff. None is covered by the warranty. I use it to tow my 16K pound fifth wheel, so I'm letting 'em do it, but it sure seems like overkill. Anyone else run into this, or are they just padding their pockets?

That has nothing to do with staying in warranty, in general GM vehicles don't usually need any fluid changes until 50k (besides engine oil of course) and diesels obviously fuel filters before that.

Not sure what is meant by "...a bunch of other stuff", but the price seems outrageously high for what is a set of fluid changes. And, as cleveland63b has said, these fluid changes may not even be necessary. Your owner's manual will tell you exactly what's required.

If you are using the rig to pull a 16,000 pound trailer, follow the "severe service" recommendations.

Default check your maintenance scedule in your owners manual

the trans fluid is definitely a good idea. driveline fluids intervals at 50 000 are a good idea. diesel injection, intake and fuel injection cleaning services are a good yearly service.

Brake fluid does not need to be changed at that interval. No way your brake fluid is moisture saturated at 1 year 50 000miles. 2years is the general consensus for brake fluid changes and that is early imo.
Coolant is good for 5 years 100 000 miles as per the owners manual maintenance schedule. No to p/s fluid also....how does p/s fluid wear, really!

I would love to hear someone one explain that to me.

Plus one to the comments from Tech2.

On a vehicle that's ten years old, you might want to consider changing things like power steering fluid, but not at the one year mark.
