Default A/C System Leak - 2015 Silverado

Hey guys. I have an A/C issue I have been troubleshooting and was looking for some ideas.

I have a 2015 Silverado that I have owned for about 5 months. While driving I have noticed that the A/C system was not working. I purchased a recharge kit which worked great for about a week, and then I lost the cold air again.

I looked for signs of a leak but couldn't find anything. Doing some research in the forums I saw that the condenser leaks seem to be pretty common. That being the case I purchased and installed a new condenser. I rented the vacuum pump and gauge set to bleed the system and refill. That night it seemed like the high and low pressure sides were holding pressure pretty well after a half hour pressure decay test. About a week later, I noticed the cold air stop blowing again however.

That being the case it looks like I still have a small leak somewhere in the system. I pressure tested it again today. It took a while, but if I let it sit for a few hours I did notice the low side pressure dropping a bit. The high side seemed to maintain pretty well.

Any ideas? Do they sell refrigerant with glow in the dark dye that I can try? Hoping to get eyes on the leak so I don't have to keep throwing parts at it.

Yeah, UV dyed R-134A is commonplace. You can also add a small amount of UV dye into a charged system too. I would under no circumstances use any A/C "stop-leak", however. Too many horror stories about that stuff. If you have not done so already, I would cinch down all the fittings good and see if that solves anything, like the leak

One trick is to soap down all the fittings, the compressor, ect with a good detergent and water spray and see if anything starts bubbling at all, if you still have pressure. If so you have found the leak or leaks. Might just be a bad O-ring ,or more often the A/C compressor will have a seal leak somewhere and needs to be replaced or rebuilt.

Also, you really want to take the caps, if any, off of the low and high side inlets and check out if the schrader valves are leaking, which is, or can be, pretty common. Might want to tighten them down, then apply the water/ detergent mix on them too.

Hey guys,

Good call on the R134A with the UV dye. I was able to find the leak. There are a lot of other parts in the way so I am having a hard time telling where the hose leads. Posted a video on youtube. Sorry for the poor quality.

Yeah its a bit hard to see, but yeah that's. a leak. Can you take some daylight photos of the area? Is it near the firewall?

Alright so I got the culprit off the truck. The line is off of the condenser, I believe feeding to the compressor. Looking this part up it seems like other have had issues with this part. Is there a better aftermarket part? Or any additional support bracketry for the line I can purchase? Also, a lot of the lines don't come with the sensor. Any reason I can't carry this one over?

Looked all over but so far I only found this one at Autozone.:

Its got a bracket and two mufflers, but the fitting one the end looks like a pressure line fitting to me, not for the pressure valve on your unit.

This is what Oriellys had:

I think the last one is the one that will fit your Silverado the best. $77 bucks tax and shipping included, but I don't see a bracket. Should be able to use your old sensor too.
