fuel system treatment
I have 2015 Silverado 1500 5.3 . Today I asked the service tech to check his computer and let me know what if any recommended service would be for my truck having 73000 miles on it.
He said they recommend" Ethanol Fuel System treatment"
. What exaclty is that ...what do they do to complete this treatment? it costs like 60.00 bucks
Thanks for any info I hope they don't charge 60.00 just to dump a can of gunk into the gas tank ?

I asked my Chevy Service tech whenI went to pick up my truck.....as I feared..the" Ethanol Fuel System treatment" = They have a "kit" ( 2 cans of secret goo) they open these and pour them into your gas tank The Kit = 47.00 but when they "install it" it cost you 69.00

I’m not sure what those chemicals would have been, but I doubt it’s anything a bottle of fuel system cleaner from a parts store couldn’t do.
Engines that use direct injection are more prone to injector nozzles getting clogged/covered by carbon build up because they’re exposed directly to combustion. It can be remedied/prevented by regularly using fuel system cleaner every other tank.
Techron, Seafoam, and Marvel Mystery Oil are good options.

There is also AC Delco Top Engine Cleaner. It's not added to the gas tank.

The Seafoam equivalent is Seafoam Spray - Top Engine Cleaner & Lube. You don't pour that into your gas tank either.

Here is a GM TSB discussing the Top Engine Cleaner along with equipment used. It also discusses use of Fuel System Treatment Plus (Gas and Flex Fuel versions) which you do pour into the gas tank.
