Default GMT-K2 Tailgate bushing

Has anyone developed a remedy for the continued failure of the tailgate bushing. I'm working on my 4th bushing. I typically am getting about a year out of each one. I've trimmed the metal, shaped, sanded and smoothed the edges, repeatedly. I've read many articles and tried, I believe, all the suggestions. I'm looking for a hardier bushing perhaps out of aluminum or other material. Just looking around before I buy another one.

Is the tailgate contacting the bed floor when it’s closed (with or without bed liner)? GM issued an updated tailgate (not bushings) to correct the problem.

They don’t specify the exact changes but look at TSB# PIT5498A. This only applies if the build date of your truck is prior to October 2015.
