I brought home a 14 Sierra today... Was driving a 00 Silverado, so most of the time I've been up here has been in that forum...
I've been shopping trucks for more than a year, and was looking into the 11-13's until a buddy of mine in the industry advised me to go for a 14 and up, and I wanted the GMC because I like the nose better than the Silverado's.
Anyhow, Stats: I prolly paid way too much 14 z-71 SLT, all but fully optioned. Basically everything outside of sunroof and steering wheel bacon (steering wheel heat) I was fortunate enough to stumble into one with borla exhaust, fox coil overs and shocks and a cold air intake. 108k. It also has the crash button, which I guess is collision avoidance or something like that, but best I can tell, all that does is give you a little icon in the screen in the dash that changes color, but I'm not sure, I try to not take my eyes off the road too much.
I wanted the crew cab z-71 as I'm getting older and fatter, and my kids are getting older and bigger and complain (on the rare occasions they ride with me) that the ol divorced daddy special 3 door silverado just didn't give them enough room.
Immediate plans are to get better headlights and fog light bulbs. I tend to go with HID's because I like the blue tint, but I think I might try some LED's so if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. Most of the LED kit's I see seem to be 6000k, I'd prefer 8000k but if thats just something not possible in LED's I think I still want to give it a shot. I've already got a brand of LED's picked out for the fog lights, that I'm running in my 300c that I like, so I plan to use those on the sierra.
Getting used to all the features is crazy to me, I've got a 06 300c that was the newest vehicle I've ever owned, and it's amazed me, I mean, the whole rain sensing wipers on it is the best feature ever in my mind, I wish the Sierra had them. But my reaction to the lane departure feature must've been priceless.
Anyhow, if anyone has any tips/tricks things to look out for I'd appreciate any input. My family has been in the car business all my life to some degree or another and there ain't much we can't do.
Well, tomorrow is going to suck. Gotta take the truck back to the dealership to get them to fix a leaking trans cooler line/cooler, the heated seat, and evap leak/solenoid.
Sucks because the evap issue seems to be hit or miss, but when it does throw the CEL, there goes the remote start.
I already sent my old truck with my son, so it looks like I'll get stuck driving pop's miata... Ugh. I'd take the 300, but the ol lady drives it daily.
