Default How to remove adhesive without damaging paint ?

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 that I purchased used from a dealer back in 2016. I came with a clear "chip guard" glued along the front of the hood. It's a cellophane type of protector that is now pealing off and exposing the adhesive. I need to get the whole thing removed but unsure how to get the adhesive off without damaging the the black paint? Anyone have any experience with this or ideas? Thanks - Patrick

I'd try something light like stoddard solvent first. It shouldn't damage the paint.
