Default Information on powered mirrors on a 2014 Chevy 2500HD Silverado needed

Hello all. A little background on my situation. When my wife and I bought our 2014 LT 2500HD, it had the standard power mirrors. Per the rundown of options on the truck, it had a code (fore example: AV6) for the mirrors that are on the truck. Beside that, it said that they were up-gradable to power extending mirrors (for example: RU2...both of these codes are examples and not real codes). After purchasing the vehicle, we tried to get the power extending mirrors, but (long story short) apparently GM apparently was having difficulties with making ones that would/could work, and eventually gave up on it.

Fast forward to today, and I want to put camper style manual extending mirrors onto the truck (for towing). Since the original mirrors were power adjusting, but otherwise very plain, the only power functions I have for them are the left/right mirror button and the up/down/left/right adjustment button. The mirrors I"m looking to add to the truck also have two other features: signals and heated.

Now, my questions center around these two other features. Though I don't know if the wiring run to the mirrors has a wire for either the signals or heated, I'm sure those could be run, if I chose to have them run (if they aren't already there). And running a wire for the signals would be a 'simple' hard wire. However (and here is my MAIN question/inquiry!), how is the 'heated' feature activated/switched? Is it from a switch that would be mounted on the dash next to the exhaust brake and traction control buttons? Or is it mounted on the arm rest (on the door) next to the directional buttons that I've described above? If it is the latter, I think I'm screwed because I don't believe that could be 'added' after ward without replacing the arm rest.

I'm guessing the best person to answer this is either someone from the factory or someone that has a 2014 that has the heated option for their mirrors. It certainly isn't the parts or service departments at my local Chevy dealership because I just went there today, and neither either had a clue about it, nor knew how to find out... Any help you all can give would be greatly appreciated. BTW, when/if I do get new mirrors, I'm going to have the dealership install them. This is way above my pay grade to tackle. Thanks!

Just spoke with a friend of mine that works in a Chevy 'plant'. He seems to think that (at least in all of his experience) heated mirrors are controlled by a switch for the rear window defroster. That would be consistent with my 2004 Chevy 2500HD. He also seems to think that heated mirrors and rear view defrost are those types of options that are listed as 'requires XXX code' (meaning another option to be able to order/use).

So, for anyone still reading this thread. I guess my simple question is: On a 2014 2500HD Diesel crew cab long bed, if you have heated outside mirrors, do you hit the rear window defroster to activate them, or is there a switch on the left arm rest?
