Default Key Fob programming

I have 2 Key fobs that I am looking to get programmed for my 2017 Silverado. My questions are 1- Is there any way to program them without taking them to a dealership and paying a bunch of money? 2- Is it true that every vehicle now comes with remote start in the truck, and it just needs to be programmed to a key fob for it to work? The key fobs that I have do have a button for remote start already on them.

I cannot speak for your 2017 Silverado, but with my 2015 Chevy Malibu, all I need to do is have a working key fob, have the new fob key cut for my vehicle. After that, I simply start the car with the old key fob, shut it off, insert the new key fob and it reprograms itself after a few seconds. I'd imagine that Chevrolet did the same for your Silverado.

Dude, a simple call to any chevy dealership will get you the answer you need. And no remote start is not standard equipment.

Last year I lost the spare key to my 2017 Silverado.
I went to my local dealership to add the new one. When I heard $345 I made a lame excuse to leave.
I just made peace with having just 1 key but I saw an ad for DIY programmers and spare keys.
I was not sure I could be able to program the key, I have 0 to no experience when preparing a car.
The instruction through Funky did help me add a new key and helped me save almost $300 bucks.

Give them a try, it's worth it.

Check with your insurance company. Fob replacement is now part of my policy.

I had a toyota fob made at a locksmith Co. They had a program for all vehicles and was much cheaper. Dealer wanted $880 for the fob and programming. Got it done for $355 at the locksmith.

If you're referring to my response, Im not talking about the key either. Im talking about the FOB. .My locksmith has programs for many makes and years for new fobs and keys with built in chips. Waaay cheaper than the dealer.
