Default No Reverse Lights or Power to Reverse Lights | Backup Camera "Service" Message

Hey everyone, I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500, and I’m currently dealing with an issue where my reverse lights aren’t working, and there’s no power getting to the bulbs. At the same time, my backup camera doesn’t turn on and only displays a "Service Backup Camera" message when I shift into reverse.
I don't know if these stopped working simultaneously or separate.

I did at one point by an aftermarket camera to replace the factory camera as the factory camera had some broken wires right where they inserted into the plug. The new camera quality was poor so I went to create a pigtail with the aftermarket camera and wired into the existing OEM camera. I may have messed something up when I did this as I later realized that there was multiple wires that fed into one connection on the OEM plug. If I did hurt something here would that cause issue with the reverse lights to quit working as well? And does anyone have some steps I could go to in troubleshooting and diagnosing what's going on?

What I’ve Checked So Far: ✔ Bulbs – Tried multiple new bulbs, none are getting power.✔ Fuses – Checked following fuses.
1. Underhood Fuse Box (Engine Compartment)
  • Fuse #17 – “REV LT” (Reverse Lights) – 10A (Red)
  • Fuse #58 – “Trailer Backup Lamps” – 10A (Red) (If you have a trailer wiring system, this may also affect the reverse lights.)
  • Fuse #71 – “B/U LP” (Backup Lamp Relay Control) – 10A (Red) (May control power to the reverse lights.)
2. Instrument Panel Fuse Box (Driver’s Side Dash)
  • Fuse #27 – “Rear Camera” – 10A (Red) (Powers the factory-installed backup camera.)
  • Fuse #40 – “BCM” (Body Control Module) – 25A (Clear/White) (Controls multiple lighting functions, including reverse lights.)

What I could use some advice and guidance on:
What would be good next steps to investigate on what could be possibly going on? I am guessing something happened with the rewiring the aftermarket camera plug to the OEM camera plug.

Quick update, I ended up figuring it out. Even though I went through and visually inspected all the fuses one of the fuses did not have continuity even though I still can't tell how it doesn't have continuity. It looks complete all the way through the circuit but it isn't when I test it with a multimeter. I replaced that and now everything is working again.

I have almost the same issue, my reverse lights aren't working but my camera is. I was wondering which gise you found to be the issue as I've already checked fuse 16 and 33 with a multi meter and they are good and I even replaced both but it still doesn't work.

nice find and diagnosis, never trust a fuse by looking at it

im having the same problem and was wondering if you ever found a fix. Camera works, sensors work but the reverse lights don’t come on.
