Default Power source for a rear camera

I just installed an advent cam335 in my 2013 tahoe and now I need a power source. Was thinking about tapping into the rear tail light but I can' figure out how to route the wire from inside to the outside tail lamp. I believe this would be a good switched power source and would not create a drain on the battery since the camera would only be powered when the truck is in reverse. Can anyone help?

Default backup

most people do wire the backup camera to the white reverse lights.

I did this in my Wrangler with no issues.

I would add that it might be helpful from time to time to be able to view the camera while driving, so the addition of a switch to activate the camera when not in reverse could be helpful (as in reading the license plate of the guy that has been tailgating you for the last 8 miles)

Default switch

make sure to wire it correctly, or you'd turn on the backup lights when it's on.

Also, my state (PA) doesn't have front plates (thankfully)
