Default 07 Tahoe Back Up Camera Power Source??

I'm installing an aftermarket back up camera in my wife's 07 LT1. (No navigation, dvd, etc.). I will mount the 3" monitor with a supplied suction style mount, next to the rear view mirror. My question is: since I don't want to have hanging wires coming down or around the windshield, is it possible to get power from the interior light, right above the rear view mirror? I was thinking of tapping into the passenger air bag indicator wiring, since it stays on all of the time ("Passenger Air Bag On/Off" indicator). Would this work?

I basically just need power and ground, since it's a wireless camera set up.

I will tackle the OEM Nav/DVD/GPS later, when I can scrounge up enough cash and buy all the parts listed in the DIY posted here.

Thanks in advance guys!!

Welcome to the forum.

There's a connector on the back of the mirror where one can pick up +12V and gnd. You can probe w/ a VOM to find which wires they are or use a test lamp.

There's website that sells Invisicord for plugging radar detectors in to the mirror. You might check there to see if they reveal the correct wires.
