Default Radio sucks!

Is it me or have simple FM radios been getting worse and worse over the years? The worst in my current flock is my 2014 Chevy Silverado. It can go around the dial and fine all of 2 stations it deems worthy of stopping on. FM stations a mere 50 miles away are a struggle. Yet many of my older cars have no such problem. You would think they'd have figured out how to build a proper FM radio by now?! I'm stuck streaming Itunes or Pandora if I want to hear anything.

theres probably an antenna or reception error with the vehicle, I've seen quite a few coax cables that are bad in the newer vehicles

I'm wondering if Chevrolet puts in the cheapest radio to try to force people to pay for XM radio. I do not like any of the XM stations and would like to just listen to FM, but my 14 Silverado radio is the worst.

It is the absolute worst radio reception I have ever seen in a vehicle!

I just bought a 2016 LTZ Z71 with Bose speakers....same thing. It's ridiculous. What's the point of having Bose with static?

I'm about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh where there is zero HD FM reception. Would probably be better in a city. Regardless, my workplace has an old Buick that I drive and it gets great reception.

I am fortunate in that I never listen to the radio much.... terrestrial or XM version. I don't even give it much thought when I buy a vehicle. I can't even recall ever turning on the radio when test driving a vehicle to see how it sounds. My 2015 2500, I think I might have had the radio on once or twice in almost 2 years, and that wasn't XM. They wanted me to spec XM in my commercial trucks and I stopped the dealer from doing so. I was mostly interested in weather band equipped radios in my commercial trucks. Just wish that I could have gotten a weather band equipped version for my personal vehicles.
