trailer brakes
Me again, I have a 2015 silverado 2500. The trailer brakes are not working but all the lights are good. 30 amp fuse in the box is good. There is no message on the screen that anything is wrong. They do not activate with the pedal or the slide switch on the dash. I've unplugged all the connections and they appear to be clean and good. I do though hear a clicking noise out around the fuse box under the hood every time the pedal is depressed. Is that normal or should I look at this being the source of the problem or do I just need to replace the control module and hope the best?
Are any codes set? If no codes set and no fault message on the dash, could the trailer have an issue. Does the ipc show that the trailer is connected. There is a test tool available to test the truck for operation. Need to diagnose before throwing parts. I know not much help but have to start somewhere. If there is an ABS issue, it will disable the trailer brake.
Not a code or message to be seen. I've changed the plug on the trailer, unplugged everything I can find and checked for corrosion. I even pulled the fuse box out and checked it. I removed and checked every fuse. I have another truck and have hooked it to my trailer and the brakes work. All the lights work on the trailer. If I'm checking the right wires there is no power coming to the control module when the peddle is pressed.
The discussion in this thread may be helpful for diagnosing your issue.
