Trouble recharging AC
I have a 2014 silverado 5.3 v-8.The condensor has a hole in it..I charged ac a few times.I have a new condensor for it.I thought i would put a new orifice tube and expansion valve. where is the orifiv located i can find info on 2014 because now not cooling phanks phil
doesn't use an orfice tube. It uses a thermal expansion valve. Should be located at the firewall where the ac lines go into the cab. They rarely fail. I have had a seal leak but if that is the case replace the seal not the txv.

I have a 2014 chevy 1500 5.3 .Last year I lost all the freon from a leak in the condensor.I replace the condensor last year and charged it up.It worked good I had to recharge it 2 times. This year I turned it on and the compressor is locked up and the belt is gone.CanI just put a rebuilt compressor on and blow out the system. Give me some help I dont want it to cost a fortune thanks phil
This problem started last..It was low on freon I found on this forum that they have condensor leaking probems.Instead of replacing it I recharged it a couple of times.Late in the year I tried to charge it again but it would not take the freon and blowed warm air. This year I replaced consensor and tried to charge it and found the belt was broke on compressor. So I put on another compressor condensor and expansion valve. I evacuate it tried to rechage it.Iwould only take about 2 and half cans and wouldnt take any more. The low side pressure was 100 psi and high side pressure 150 psi. The pressures are all messed up I think the system is plugged up somewhere. I blows the system with air seems to flow ok. It is getting warm in okla somebody give me some ideas what to do. I am tired of working on this without any success. give me some help. I have an old 2004 mazda miata that has a great ac I may have to drive it in the summer Help there has got to be something I am missing. thanks philrmech I said I put 2 and half cans but I could only get one can and little bit of the second not much
On my 2014 1500 chevy I uses ac stop leak on at least 2 times charging ac.I didnt know it could clog the system up. How can I unclog ac system after using this stuff . thanks phil
