Default 2020/2021 8 sped problems

Does anyone else have hard shifts into 1st gear when coming to a stop. My dealer says newer trucks don't have a problem. They will have a tech check it out tomorrow, but I am concerned that they won't fix it. My truck is a 2021 Silverado 5.3, 8L90 transmission. I don't see why a fluid change will correct the problem when the truck was delivered with the latest fluid.

My wife complains about an occasional "jerk" when her '20 Tahoe shifts up, never down. Dealer checked it, said it's fine and "car just needs to learn her driving habits". I seldom drive it; it shifts/feels different vs our '05 Suburban, but I don't feel like it's a problem, just how it works.

I have the same issue mainly when shifting into second gear. Tech has checked it out but I am still not convinced there is nothing wrong with it. I have a 2.4L 2020 Silverado with less than 10k miles.

Default 8 Spd

My 17 Silverado 8 Spd was connected to a 6.2. Yes hard shift knock between 1st and 2nd was always there. Yes, converter starting to fail. Extreme slippage under load and higher trans temps. GM suggested flush and refill with new type fluid performed under warranty, which did nothing to fix problem. A contact I was introduced to via a friend who is associated with GM said get rid of it, Nothing GM will do can fix it 100%. My trans was slipping very bad, would not hold set cruise speed on hills, I had to engage manual shifting to get trans to downshift in order to maintain set speed on hills.

I trade up to a 20 Silverado 6.2 with 10 Spd. No more issues. My thought is GM does not want to fix issue, so you will purchase a new truck like I did. Yes, I dont like their approach and dealers seem to be caught in the middle.

Update: I spent my second half day at the dealer with my 2021 Silverado 8 speed problems. They do not know how to repair the transmission and GM will not admit there is anything wrong. My advice to anyone purchasing a new GM truck, your warranty is not as good as you think it is. Don't buy anything with an 8 speed or it could be a $50000 mistake. I would recommend a Ram. The Ford turbo V6 truck engines have a poor record for timing chain. coils an complete engine failures after towing heavy trailers for several thousand miles. I wish I had the 6L80 transmission that my 2015 Silverado had, no problems ever.

I have about 2500 miles. The problem started at 500 miles and occurs about every 500 miles and lasts 1 to 2 days. It is worse when warmed up.

Issues with my 60k Silverado problem 1: transmission slips on the 1-2 shift two to three time a week and sounds strange but only happens on the first shift of the day then its ok, 2: clunking sound coming from the rear sounds like something is in the box moving around 3: rattle noise coming from the driver side door pillar just about ear level 4: soft banging sound coming from the front left side on quick slow stops 5: rear head rest rattle. Otherwise I love the truck but for 60k you would think you would have no issues I only have 3000klm on my truck all issues started around 1000klm.Had it to the dealer many times and no fix yet. I'm told the trans problem is a known problem, the rear noise known problem, can't replicate the front noise, its at the dealer today for the door noise fingers crossed, oh and the rear head rest known problem.... I just want things fixed or give me another truck....so far not happy with my purchase, my last new gm was in 2007 and i had zero problems with it.

Default 8 spd issues

14,600 when I bought it used. Had knock and shift issues then, shift and shudder issues got worse. Dealer flush at around 42k miles was really no improvement. My shudder was minor, but still had issue of not holding speed in cruise, going up minor hills, still had to go to manual to downshift as needed. I did not realize how much my 8 speed trans was slipping, until I drove my new 20 10 speed home !
