Default Capless fuel fill neck flapper broke

I was filling up today and the gas nozzle got stuck and finally got it out and the first cap for the tank broke off. I got it back on but everytime I put gas it comes right off. I know my truck has 2 flaps. This is the first one then another one behind this one. Instead of changing the whole fill neck tube do I even need the first flapper? I kno the second flapper is sealed so there won’t be any evap codes. The first flapper is mainly for debris getting in there. Should I just remove the first flapper and put a cap on it? Any recommendations or opinions and advice on what I should do?
