Default PIP5653- 2020 Silverado left front axle squeak/jingle

I am surprised that no-one is reporting extremely annoying left front axle noise on 2019 - 2021 silverado. Very high pitch noise, sometimes subdued, normally only presents after 30 miles of driving and at 40+mph. GM PIP 5653 = no current fix. I have a 2020 High Country with this issue that was known to GM in 2019 and continues to exist. A shame to spend $60k on a vehicle that manufacturer recognizes problem, but will not repair. I have had vehicle to dealer three times for the issue. The first two times Dealer could not replicate issue. FINALLY, on third trip to Dealer, they agree that there is an issue, but no fix. I will begin process for manufacturer refund/replace, and move to file suit under lemon law if necessary. Very dissappointing as I really like the vehicle. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/top...h-only-in-2wd/
Other sketchy performance: LKA; Rumble Seat; Camera Operations
Buyer Beware

I'm currently Dealing with the exact same thing. The only thing I could hope for is that it full on breaks so they(Chevy) are forced to dismantle and investigate. i will give my dealer's mechanic credit, They called and asked that based on my description of driving on the highway for 40 plus mins that he wanted permission to drive it to his home 56 miles away for the night and back in the morning to replicate the scenario i gave em. I immediately replied " you mean to tell me that the mechanic has read my description, not blown it off and passed it down the line, and wants to do the best he can to hear what i heard?" Yes sir" ".... **** tell em to take his ol lady to dinner in the damn thing yes he has my permission!!" They called the next day about the mentioned issue in the original post and sadly returned me truck unfixed. There is another 150 miles on the truck so I'm not mad at the dealership for doing their best to find it but sad that there's no path forward at this time.

GM knows what the issue is; they should make dealers aware. GM should only use GM made front axles - the issue is only with the outsourced front axles. Good luck with your pickup, I’m moving forward with GM Buyback request.

I have a 2021 with same issue still at almost 11,000 miles. 2x times to dealer while getting oil change I asked them to look at and both times same answer. We can replicate the noise and GM knows about it but not a fix for it.

GM declined my buyback request. Looking into other options including legal through lemon law.

I hope you don’t mind me asking, but do you know for sure it is the outsourced axles only that are making the noise? And if so, why doesn’t GM announce the fix being to simply us GM parts? Because I spoke with another executive today and she had zero updates for me other than “engineering is continuing to work on this and invest money into a solution.”

I believe it is in the PiP from GM. EVERYTHING I have read says only the AAM outsourced axle presents the issue. SU5 (GM) front axle is okay, issues only occur with the SU4 (AAM) front axle. I found other posts indicating vehicles built in Mexico had the AAM axle. Vehicles built in US had the SU5 axle (GM). If buying a new GM pickup/SUV, get the build sheet first- make sure it doesn’t have the SU4 front axle.

Thank you for all the helpful info. I guess my next thing is to confirm the axle for my truck specifically by accessing my as built sheets. Then once I confirm, reaching out to GM and demanding they replace this with the appropriate GM manufactured version. Has anyone else tried this already?

No luck getting the Dealer to do anything. Working directly through GM has been even less satisfying. Really disappointing.
