Default What is Your Best and Worst Tonneau Cover Experience? Share Your Stories

Hey everyone, Worksport here. Since we are still pretty new around these forums, we thought it would be great to start a conversation and learn directly from you.

We would love to hear about your best and worst experiences with tonneau covers, regardless of brand. Even if you have had an issue with one of ours, do not hesitate to share it. We are committed to constant improvement and your stories help us and others make better products and more informed decisions.

So, what worked great for you and what went completely off track? Installation troubles, weather leaks, long term durability wins or fails. We are all ears.

Drop your story below and help us learn what really matters to truck owners like you.

On my previous truck until March 28, 2025, which was a 2012 Silverado 1500 LT, I had a Truxedo Low Profile Roll-Up model. I prefer the hard top models for security. My reasons for opting for the soft model were due to the hard top versions not allowing for use of the entire bed without removing the cover.

In March I traded for a 2024 Silverado LT used, only 10 months old which the previous had already purchased the Chevy Hard Top bed cover. I have had to remove the cover 3 times since the purchase for needing the use of the full bed. A pain in the *ss...

Now with your new model AL4 Flip-Up seems to be a perfect compromise being able to flip it up when needed and still having the security other times. However having said that, I will not be purchasing the AL4 due to the "out-the-door" price of $1100.00+. I am sure the AL4 is worth every penny of the price but, I can not justify tossing a 1 year old hard top for the AL4 just to fix my "pain in the *ss" trouble. I for one will be purchasing the AL4 if and when my current one is damaged or becomes unusable.

I think there are probably a lot of folks like me out there that already have a hard cover and can not justify another $1000.00+ to replace their's while it still functions.

Best wishes with the AL4, seems to be the great product.

Thumbs up Thanks for the Honest Take

Hey edspilot, really appreciate you jumping in and sharing your experience.

I totally get where you are coming from. If we were in your shoes, we would have a hard time justifying swapping out a functional cover, too. It means a lot that you took the time to look into the AL4 and saw the value in the design. That flip-up function was built exactly for situations like yours, where removing the entire cover just to use the bed gets old fast.

When the time eventually comes to replace what you have, we will be here. And who knows, maybe for being a good (Work)sport about it, we'll give you a special discount when you DM.

Thanks again for the thoughtful reply. You are exactly the kind of insight we were hoping for when we started this thread.
