2000 astro van fuel pump

2000 astro van fuel pump
Hello folks I have a question and I was wondering if anybody else has some input on this.
My 2000 astro van will not start and the fuel pump noise that I used to hear is not longer occurring. I crawl under the van and beat on the gas tank with my hands and the van starts up for a few minutes to a few seconds and then dies.
Thought it was the battery at first but I put a brand new one in the van and is still doing it. The van turns over but doesn't start. So my assumption the the fuel pump.
Any thoughts?
