Default 2003 Astro Proportional/Combinator Brake Valve doesn't reset

I replaced the brake pads on the rear. I refilled reservoir. Now the Brake light stay illuminated. I disconnected the proportional/combinator sensor connection and the light went off. My manual says the valve will reset by applying 450psi to brake pedal. I tried pressing and light stays on. With force, pedal goes to floor which is a concern..

Any thoughts on next steps? I'm concerned that the proportional valve is not centered and I only have 1/2 of the brakes operating. No ABS light on. Do I need to bleed rear and front?
Thx,
Gil

You have air in the brake line.
Need to bleed the lines at each wheel to be sure there is no air trapped.
If you have drum brakes in the back then it is very easy to have the small pistons to come out, leaking a bit of oil and letting air in.
When you reassembled the drum brakes you pushed the cylinder pin/pistons back in to proper place.
If you bleed all wheels you will also get rid of old oil and water that was adsorbed over time in the lines.
Your brakes will feel like brand new again after all lines a cleared of air.

The other thing that might cause the brake light is if the hand break is not released fully or the hand brake switch is being pushed/stuck closed..
