This van is hard to start, found out that it will fire right up if I hold the coil wire 1 inch or so from the distributer center post. if I lower the wire on to the post as its running the engine dies! any ideas??

I forgot to mention that it is a new wire and cap, rotor, plugs, etc, new parts made no difference.

 

That's a new one for me. Are the cap and rotor ACDelco? There is a long history of the aftermarket ones not working right with these vans.
