Default Installing a Tachometer

I installed one of these SUN-Pro SUPER TACH II in my 2000 Astro.

Connected the GREEN tach wire (provides the tachometer with the engine RPM signal) to the Brown Wire from the distributor.

It's not really working. The RPMs never go much above 1k and the RMPs don't fluxuate. I thought it may have been a bumb tach, so I switched it out with a new one off the shelf. No change. Same non revving tach...

Funny part is that I had the same type of tach on my 1993 Astro. But The 2000's are completely different ignition system.
So any one have a Tach Working? Which is the proper wire? Or so I have a bigger problem than this looks? --like the nut behind the wheel---

Thanks, BigFish #246

I have another dumb question...just to rule out all possibilities...
Don't those meters need grounding?
