What's wrong with using a Universal Catalytic Converter?
I just replaced mine with Universal; costs around $100 with all the camps?

so you just cut yours out and that one slips right over the existing pipes and then clamps?

Default Installing Universal CatConv

I just did this on my 2000 Astro. I dont know how different it is from your model year.
I found a Maremont Cat Conv part number 38765. I think it has a 5 year warranty.
I used a reciprical saw to cut out the old one just where it begins and ends; about 1/2 inch from the weld on each side. Becaus it actually flares larger around the weld.
The you can slip on the new one and then clamp it down.
The diameter of the openings on the new Universal CatConv is 3 inch but the my exhaust is 2 3/4.
I had to make up for the 1/4 inch of space. You may think that it's no big deal, it's up to you. So I found reducing couplings; Maremont 548588 (2 3/4 ID and 3'' OD). That took out the 1/4 inch gap. Then two 3inch and two 2-3/4inch clamps.
Now, you may just not need all that coupling and be able to clamp it down. Maybe just by tightening the clamps you can get it tight enough. I chose to look for size reducing couplers because I thought I get a better fit.
Took the old one to a salvage yard, and got $20 for it!

okay I just replaced the cat and wiped out all my codes, I had p0420 and p0446 and both were elated to the cat being clogged. I only paid 67.00 for it and 100 for it installed, not to bad, by the way they wanted over 400 at my local muffler shop for the cat installed from them
