Default 2004 Avalanche Brake Booster failure?

Hi
I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche with 215,000 miles. Took it for a ride and my when I went for the brake, my foot went to the floor. No leaks. I bought a new master cylinder for $80 but the Hydrobooster is $200 +. Does anyone know what might be wrong. I hate to trow good money after bad.
Thanks,

Chris

Were you able to pump up to a firmer pedal? Get any braking at all??

Hi, Thanks for the reply: No, foot goes to the floor every time. At the stop, I could feel something kicking back, but I can't get pressure, and no stopping power at all.

Any suggestions or experience with this problem?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

When you installed the new master cylinder, did you bleed the master cylinder and then the brakes?

It certainly does sound like a bleeding issue. I’m assuming the brake fluid level is staying constant when you push down on the brake pedal and is not being lost through any type of break in the lines.

True,

No loss through the lines. Master cylinder had no loss. I pulled the Master cylinder, but I have not put the new on in yet.

I also bought the booster, but I want to return it if I don't need it. I would need to go behind the firewall to get it off/on. Plus, it cost $240.

Thanks for the reply,

Chris
