brake issues 2004 avalanche
appointment is made. see what happens now i guess thanks people
just a recap on the brake issue. think i found the problem. the guy that had the truck before me must of been a ****ing moron and used power steering fluid instead of brake fluid and it looks like it ****ed over the whole system. so i guess the new question is has anyone ever came across this before and is there an easy fix other then rebuilting the whole brake system. i really dont want to have to sell the first born to pay for it all lol
Back in the mid 70's a guy I worked with put power steering fluid in his brake system. It ended up eating up every rubber seal. If it were me, I would replace all calipers and the master cylinder.
ok so heres the latest. went to change the front brake pads. when i went to compress the caliber it wouldnt move at all. not even enough to be able to remove it. i had to release the pressure from the bleeder screw. so is that a slave cylinder issue or something else. would it be possible that would be my problem all along. would thought cause the rest to slowly come on some how
Hi,
I know that this thread is old, and I've posted only once before to this forum, but I'm having problems with a 2005 GMC Jimmy with much the same problem. The brakes come on while driving. It seems to be all four as the vehicle does not pull to either side. Took it to a GM dealer yesterday they said that the brake fluid was possibly contaminated and that everything with any rubber on it in the brake system would have to be replaced. I bought the vehicle just three weeks ago (it has a month's warranty) and the problem is intermittent. Did replacing the master cylinder and calipers correct your problem? Thanks!

Some sort of a vandalism comes to mind (crazy ex?). Hopefully another member has an idea, even where to start with something like that.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
