Default Does 2002 Avalanche use generator battery control module?

I have erratic charging and dead new battery overnight in cold weather. The Alternator and battery are brand NEW.

I was looking for the generator battery control module on the battery wire to test it. It is NOT there??? So, does the 2002 have the generator battery control module? If so, Is it not supposed to be 6-10 inches down the negative wire running from the battery? Thanks for any help.

I've never heard of this. On start-stop vehicle's like my 15 Malibu there are some weird wiring issues, but I can't see it on an old Avalanche.
