Default factory remote starter short range

I have seen posts about the Chevy factory remote starters having short range(mine included). There are posts telling about doubling the range simply by locating the antennae wire, pulling it away from a wire harness, and exposingtheend.Does anyone know wherethis wire is located in the2007 Avalanche? All of the threads I have read refer to where it is in a Tahoe. This sure seems like a better way than buying an aftermarket extender.

This vehicle uses a coax cable to the antenna. Antenna location is above rear window behind center plastic panel by roof.

Are you familiar with the procedure that has been posted on the Tahoes? If so do you think that it will work on the Avalanche. How do I get the plastic panel off? the air bags are behind it. Thanks
