Default intermittent no oil pressure 05 5.3 Avalanche

I have a 2005 Avalanche with a 5.3 liter. Went to start vehicle on 2 separate occasions and the warning indicator on instrument panel indicated low oil pressure and oil gauge showed no oil pressure. Checked engine oil and both times registered full. The second time I started engine it had some upper engine clatter. My question is: can an oil pressure switch and/or sending unit cause intermittent problems?
I use Mobil One full synthetic 10w30 and AC Delco filters

Welcome to the forum...
Yes it can be a faulty sensor... do a forum search for low oil pressure and you will find lots of helpful post in the Tahoe/Suburban as well as the Truck section on the subject...
