Lost key. Dealer code doesn’t work.

Lost key. Dealer code doesn’t work.
Went to the dealer. They cut a key from a code. But the key doesn’t work in the doors or ignition. The ignition is the original. It’s never been changed.
I called Chevy corporate and they say the truck was made in 2003 which has no code. Codes didn’t start till 2004. 2004 Chevy avalanche. Help please. Thank you.
