Default Multiple issues

2008 Avalanche-I have a dummy light that says "service airbag", also my radio only works in "stereo" occasionally. I have no warning sounds like when you first start the truck or no bell goes off if you don't put your seatbelt on, and you can't hear the blinkers. My cruise control quit working. Is this all related?

the warning chimes, signal, seat belt chime sounds are all produced through the radio. If all the speakers are working...you probably need a radio. if you go aftermarket radio; you will need a chime module to produce the signal/warning sounds.
-cruise is a separate issue....check for body and powertrain codes
-airbag light is a separate issue...check for codes in the airbag/sdm module

Thank you! It was suggested about the radio, I will look for a new one. No codes show for the other issues. No one can figure out why I have the dummy light and it was suggested that something in the steering column might have gone, and that's why the cruise isn't working and that light is on.

there are codes but a code reader only access powertrain codes. for cruise and airbag systems you need a scan tool that reads body codes.

vehicles can set : p, b, c, and u codes
-powertrain
-body
-chassis
-undefined/communication
the cel only illuminates for powertrain codes and simple code readers only access powertrain faults. when the other warning lights come on; the faults codes are there but set in different modules....ie abs, stability, traction=chassis or airbag light=body
