Default speedometer stuck at 110km

was driving around today and started to notice my speedometer was starting to drop slower and slower as the day went on until it just **** the bed and stuck at 110km. i had it in auto 4wd if that is a help to anyone. i noticed the speedometer to be jumpy when it was in 4x4 at low speeds. looking for an easy fix. to damn cold to just go pokin around the truck with no clue where to start.

common problem. there is a special extended warranty for this concern (believe 10 years?) so it may be covered.

If not you will need to replace the servo motors in the cluster. You can get them on ebay cheap and solder them in.

Default Speedometer fix

Disconnecting the battery will reset the gauges. You can also shift the vehicle to reverse and try and start it a few times. The gauge will reset. Sound like you have a stepper motor problem and it will only get worse. If you have fewer than 80,000 miles take it to the dealer. If more you can fix it yourself. This page Chevrolet speedometer repair has information on both the recall of the gauges and how to fix them if you want to try it yourself.
