Default Lost One of My Chevy Bolt EUV Key Fobs - How to Prevent Theft?

Hi everyone,

I recently lost one of the two key fobs for my Chevy Bolt EUV and I'm concerned about the risk of theft, especially since there have been numerous car break-ins in my neighborhood. I suspect I might have dropped it on a street close to my home during a walk, but despite searching, I haven't been able to find it. My car is usually parked on the street, which increases my worry about it being stolen.

I'm considering reprogramming the key fob I still have in hopes that it will deactivate the lost one. Does anyone know if this is a viable solution? Would reprogramming my current key fob disable the lost one and prevent any unauthorized access to my car? I am reading the manual (https://cdn.dealereprocess.org/cdn/s...23-bolteuv.pdf) and on page 11 there is an options that seems to indicate all previous key fobs will be inactivated. Will following these instructions allow me to deactivate the previous key fob and reprogram the existing key fob to work with a new program?

I'm open to any suggestions or advice on how to handle this situation to ensure my car's security.

I've reprogrammed my key fob on another vehicle before for this exact reason and I believe it does deactivate the lost key fob, but I'm not 100% about the Bolt. However, looking at the manual on page 10 does seem to suggest it does as well:

"Only remote keys programmed to the vehicle will work. If a remote key is lost or stolen, a replacement can be purchased and programmed through your dealer. The vehicle can be reprogrammed so that lost or stolen remote keys no longer work. Any remaining remote keys will need to be reprogrammed. Each vehicle can have up to eight remote keys matched to it." (page 10 of the owners manual you linked to)
