1999 chevy camaro not starting issues

Question need some help... my son has a 1999 chevy camaro it stalled it would turn over like it would start but wouldn't. wasn't the battery or the alternator or starter. Brought to VIP becasue it was right next door they said it was the cadilac converter it cost $750 said car was ready come pick it up. On our way to pick it up they called and said they took it for a test ride and the fuel pump blew and that the part for that was $500 and with the labor the total for that would be $900 on top of the $750 for for the cadilac converter. I told them to hold off on fixing the fuel pump and i left the car there for now. Any suggestions? I feel like the fuel pump was probaly the main issue for it not starting in the first place not the cadilac converter. I also feel like that is an outrageous price. I need some guidence if someone can give it to me so I can go there tomorrow and state my case. Thanks.

You are probably right, the catalytic converter was not the original problem. It was, as you say, the fuel pump all along. But you cannot prove that and the only recourse its to take them to court and you will need a certified mechanic to testify on your behalf. The $500 for the fuel pump is outrageous. Even a Delco pump does not cost that much. That you can prove to them by getting a price quote from a dealer. It will save you some money but not that much. This is a shop I would never go to again.

Bad ignition switch. If it starts and stalls after warming up (3-4 miles), check the ignition module...I would suggest having both checked at the same time.
