going to supercharge my new camaro but who do i use?
i am thinking of dropping a new 7.0L engine in my new camaro and sell the engine that comes in it if chevy wont take it. i have looked around for superchargers and have found a couple companies that build superchargers for the ZO6 which has the same engine that i am dropping in my camaro.
now i have checked out Vortech, Procharger, and lingenfelter which i am sure is the best out of all of them but expensive!
i am looking to put out 600HP+ if the new trans in the camaro can hold it but also want to stay covered by chevy warranty due to the fact that this is the first year on a brand new design and there will be issues and we all know there will be, minor or major i want to be covered. lingenfelter offers 3 year 36,000 mile warranty on their kits which does sound nice but also their kit is like $9000 not installed or including tax in there, plus having my car shipped out to them and back!!!
anyone have any ideas here?
does chevy have a motor sports division that upgrades their cars without voiding warranty like ford has with SVT, SHELBY, and SALEEN?
i would also consider keeping the 6.2L in it if i can get the same HP out of it as the 7.0L would, better gas milage and saves me money!
If you change the engine in any car under warranty you can forget about any powertrain warranty. It will be voided instantly. Unless you buy a supercharger from Gm (if they even make one) and have it installed by the dealer you warranty is void. If you modifiy that car in anyway other than approved GM parts you will not have a warranty.
well they have 4 special packages that will be available for the new camaro when they come out in april as listed on the camaro site!
they picked 4 specially designed camaros from the sema show this year and are going to have the packages available at the chevy dealer to put on and that includes the LS7 concept design that they will have available then. so i am sure the conversion package will be covered by Chevy/GM. also lingenfelter covers their work, supercharger kits, by a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and i am sure that wont hurt the warranty from chevy that will still be on the camaro.
i have written lingenfelter to double check that but i have heard good things from them and they know what they are doing.
does chevy do any aftermarket mods or do they have a company like ford has where you can do upgrades and not void warranty or no?
ford has shelby and SVT and Ford Racing, anything from them keeps warranty intact as long as a certified ford tech installs it for you on your ford car!
i was just wondering what chevy has to offer mod wise so i can research it some more so i am ready and can price it all out
