Mysterious engine noise driving me CRAZY!
Hello Camaro Experts - I have a 2010 Camaro SS/RS six speed manual which I purchased used about 4 months ago. I've noticed a very annoying noise lately that I'd like to find out the root cause of. Its a fairly high pitched whine that runs in tandem with the engine when accelerating. I can't tell if its coming from the transmission or the rear. It isn't there all the time but will become audible when switching from 1st to 2nd. By the time its in 4th gear and no longer accelerating it tends to disappear only to come back randomly. I'd very much appreciate any advice on what might be causing it, thanks!

Danbrown1888: Welcome to the forum. You can probably rule out the A/C compressor by turning it off and seeing if the noise goes away. That will eliminate the belt for the cause of the noise. However it could still be a bearing in something like the A/C compressor or alternator.
Hi 73shark! Its definitely related to the AC, I'm finding the sound goes away completely if I turn it off. Also explains why I never heard it until it got hot out. So now that I've narrowed it down, are there known issues with the AC making this sound with the 6 speed 2010 Camaro SS?
