Default Vats issue on 98 Camaro Z28

This is the second time I have encountered this problem. The first time around 3-4 years ago..... I went on and paid the GM people to fix and it was over $300. This time I want to troubleshoot it first and see if I can get the job done. I will try and include as much info as possible so hopefully we can narrow it down.

The car will not turn over. The fuel injectors sound like they're activating. I do have the security lights on both the dash (red flashing) and yellow "security" on the cluster. When you get in the car and try to start it, you have the security light on. After a few minutes it will go out but still no cranking and the light re-illuminates. Red light does as follows:

Door locked.......... red light on solid.
Door unlocked....... red light off.
Door open........ red light blinking.
Ignition activated...... red light blinking.

I have tries the "3 times reset", unplugged the battery to reset, sprayed the ignition tumblers with air, and still nothing.

I bypassed the chip on the key (#7 - 1.870 ohms) and still no help.

What is next? Do I have to get intothe control module? If so can I just replace it or does something have to be programmed or resetby GM.

I appreciate any help with this problem!!!

when you bypassed the key, did you cut both wires and install the resistor?
does the amber light flash at all?
do you have 12volts on the yellow Ign wire during crank?
