Some independent shops charge more than $150/hr so no not crazy.
Yes. They are a bunch of greedy people.
I found a lowest rate of $65/hr from a guy working out of his garage. Lots of people flocked to him so his policy is to have the car dropped off if you want him to work on your car and usually it takes 4days to a week before he gives the 1st look.
Once time a spark plug flew out of the engine and another time the hood opened up as I start entering the freeway so I stopped wanting cheap rate. You can go back to him and complain but he doesn't need to have yours business.
He doesn't do the works. He hires a bunch of kids and lets them learn the skills.

Name one shop in city of Saskatoon with a door rate of 30/hr. I will go there my next visit at dealer training and post a picture of me standing in front of the mandated door rate sign.
Sorry, you don't know what your talking about.

ask the op what she makes as an master electrician (still a trade regardless of who you work for) at ontario hydro...I'm betting 80 000 to 100 000 a year, plus benefits, pension plan and probably 8 plus weeks paid vacation a year...but the thief is the auto shop who charged her 0.3hrs to remove wheel locks.
She, like most ranters, is here on a repair forum, for 1 thread, helps no one and will never post again.
What then is the appropriate door rate...please tell.
