I own a 1991 Caprice. The car sat in a warehouse for many years. It would not start and so I pulled the gas tank. The fuel pump assembly was very rusty and the f/p would not run. I replaced the f/p assembly with new parts and had the tank cleaned.. The f/p will only run if I connect it directly to a second battery but the engine will still not run. The engine will only run (momentarily) if I squirt some ether into the carburetor. I disconnected the fuel tubes at the carburetor and tried to blow air into the other end of the tube at the fuel filter. I could not blow any air into the tube. So, there is no gas going from the f/p to the engine even when a second battery is used to power the f/p and I can hear it running. There is also no current going to the f/p from the car's battery. I have also replaced the f/p relay and the f/p fuse.
