I just bought a 66 Caprice 427 and need as much info as possible on this car please? It is numbers matching. Climatron A.C., TH400, Tilt/tales, buckets with headrest, elec windows, elec antenna. The appraiser told me that it's the 425hp car because of the cowl tag saying Detroit. IJ engine code says 390hp?? How rare is my car? And possible value? Paint is only thing it needs and that's getting done in next few weeks.

It's a 66 with a turbo 400? The 427 would be correct. Rare, can't answer.It won't be 425 hp, heads will determine that from factory. You might post some images

 

Ok...3 speed auto!! And no possible way it's a turbo 350. Why won't it be 425hp? How will the heads determine it from the factory? A 427 Caprice is pretty common??

 

427 cid is, that dosen't mean it's 425 hp, it could be. If original transmission, I can't see it as a 400

 

Do the cowl tag on this, that will tell you everything it was born with

There is the cowl tag. Care to explain why it isn't a 400? I was told by the appraiser that it is!!

 

Looking at the 400, GTO started them in 64, so yes it probably is. With the cowl tag you can have the interior, and exterior paint back to original

 

Yep...its going back to Aztec Bronze next week. I just need as much info as I can on this car. All the answers I get from MOST people are "cool" and answers to questions are vague. I know this car is rare. I would just like more info or someone that is nice enough to answer all my questions....no matter how stupid! What that have answered me...dont seem to really care about cars.
