Bout this car yesterday. It runs good but idles back and forth from 800-1100rpm. I drove it home but it runs best at 1/4 throttle. It takes everything it has to do 65mph. But it loses speed if I give it any more gas. I thought it could be a cat converter but there isn't one on it. Im bout to put a new fuel filter in it and do a oil change and tune up just wandering if anyone had any advice. Thanks.

 

Changed plugs and plug wires, did oil change and changed fuel filter. Also swapped the injectors. Car runs great with no skips or anything. But when driving it does the same at 1/4 as it does with full throttle. Tach says 5-7 thousand but it just doesn't sound like its revving that high.

 

I've now done plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel pump and filter. It runs great and I can now "play" with the pedal and get it to get up and go so something is better. I have a 86 chevy truck with the same motor (5.7) transmission (700R) and my truck is a drag racer compared to this car. What else is there that im missing? I can't find any vacuum leaks.

Car is now for sale im tired of messing with it. It will run like its supposed to now but wont idle. Its the 9c1, Ac and heat works. Still has all the lights except for the top bar lights. Plus still has all the sirens, pa, and scanner, plus my old cb in it. 106,xxx miles I drive it everyday till its sold. But why am I on here I may as well be telling this to a brick wall. But on the off chance anyone reads this and wants to respond just email me at mapigg@gmail.com. Oh yeah and the car will haul *** now, burnouts, donuts are easy and I know the car will do 132mph according to the certified digital speedometer but I had to let off(love having the scanner). It just wont idle.

 

Sold car today for $500 they drove it home. I got out of fords because no one would help me on any forum. Apparently coming back to chevy wasn't a great idea. Think ill try toyota.
