car just cut off while i was driving
i have a 1986 caprice with a 305 carbureted, today i was driving and it cut off wouldnt start up had it towed still wouldnt start when i got it home tried starter fluid still no go what could it be it turns over but sounding really rough from the starter please help..

It could be a few things.
(1)Does it have (spark)?if not it could be a ignition coil,ignition module in the dist.,pickup coil in the dist.
Check that first, also I need more info how many miles on the engine?what is the general condition under the hood? has anybody messed with the wiring,vacuum hoses etc? or is it mostly original?
