Default Help

I have a 1988 caprice classic brougham, with a 305 5.0L. It has a carburator with injectors. I want to change the cam to a mild cam, would the only 2 things I would have to change would be the carburator and intake manifold tomake it run proper or would I have to change other parts ont he engine because of the computer?

Thank you very much.

Steve: My 1983 Parisene (Caprice Classic clone) had the last of what were called the "clicker" carburators. This unit was controlled by the ECM and is reputed to be the most difficult carburator to adjust or work on. Later 305's had TBI's or throttle body injectors, which were simpler and easier to modify. That being said, computers then were somewhat in their infancy and had trouble even keeping those engines adjusted to operate porperly. Could tune and replace cam and such but will probably be complicated and costly venture. Not raining on your parade, just trying to save you some $$$. OK?
