Need help in identifying engine wire... (mouse chewed?)
Poking around the hood of my newly acquired 1991 Caprice today I discoved a couple of unpleasant things. The car had set for a little while and apparently some mice had taken advantage of it.
There is one wire directly under the air cleaner housing on the passenger side that has ALL of the insulation off of it. I am wondering what this wire functions and if its easily replaceable? I dont know, it may have just overheated, but there are no signs below it that show it melted... this appears to have been like this for awhile. I think it was chewed off by mice... 4 inches back from this is some underhood insulation that they tore off.... I am wondering if its unsafe to drive like this? I dont want it shorting out and cause more damage....
some of their supplies left behind...
and some of this plastic stuff around the wires is very brittle, which exposed some of the wires... to be victims to mice!
I am not sure what to do.

Thanks. Do you know if there is a way to check to see if power is still flowing through the wire? I wish I knew what its function was.
I am wondering if where the mouse chewed on it, if it maybe shorted out.

I,m not sure what the wire was, but use a voltage tester while the engine is running to check for power. Be sure to check it as a power wire and as a ground wire.
