Default Need help. Power window problems

Ok, so here is the deal. My dad has a 1981 Caprice Classic. Meticulously maintained and in great condition for it's age. The problem is only the drivers side rear window will operate. It started as an intermitent problem, now it is all the time and he has one stuck in the down position and can't take it anywhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Window motor, check the fuses, and all the connections.

i don't beleive that it is the motor,or the fuses as one window works and the other three don't. I checked the under-dash fuse and it was fine. Any other ideas ? Thank you for your comments.

Hi,
Sorry I don`t have a real solution, but I do sympathize with him, as I have the same type problems. On my 1992 Caprice, every one of my windows don`t work properly any more. I managed to get them ALL UP and simply do not put them down any more. I have air conditioning for the summer and manage OK.

A garage mechanic told me $400 per window and he can put new motors , rollers, etc. in. No thanks ! I`ll drive it as it is, and buy a new car , probably in a couple years. I hate electric windows !

fastest and easiest way to check the motor is un plug the 2 pin connector on the motor and apply 12 volts to one pin and ground to another if that works then the problem is in the switch or the wiring and normaly the problem is in the switch try that and let me know how it turns out. also don't matter which pin you use as one way the window will go up and if you reverse them then the window will go back down.

Yes, I realize this model is definitely flawed, and no, I do not believe in this model.

But just for arguments sake, come anyone here figure out some speeds for me?
