Vinyl top removal?

Has anyone removed their vinyl top off of their Caprice Classic? I've got a white 88 Caprice Classic with the black vinyl top and I'm thinking of removing it but I'm curious as to how it looks under the vinyl.

If the vinyl is in good condition , I would not mess with it .

If you do , as a worst case , be prepared to sand back to the metal , prime & paint .
