2012 Captiva electrical issues
Still 100% resolved? We are going on two years of this. New battery cables, alternator, control module and still getting intermittent service traction control warnings, radio cutting out when high beams or blinkers are used or other random times, and recently we've gotten the key getting stuck.
Anyone else here have the problem be permanently resolved with something other than more grounding wiring? Otherwise, seems like Shuvl's fix is the long term fix!
Holy cow, Chevy! What the heck?!?! All of these complaints and you do nothing? No answers? No recall? We're just left to fend for ourselves and spend hundreds of dollars trying to fix your issue? Not right! I used to love Chevy. Always drove a Chevy but, this 2012 Captiva LTZ is it! No more Chevy's for me! I had to leave my Captiva, packed with many personal, irreplaceable items, on the side of the road due to an issue you have HUNDREDS of complaints on! We were taking items to storage while we have contractors working on our house and we made one stop and the car won't start! We've been having issues with the car not starting, the key getting stuck in the ignition, then the thing starts but sounds like the battery is almost dead, then it starts fine, then won't start but have lights, then starts, starts with a jump, doesn't start with a jump, etc! Al the same issues that customers have been complaining about for YEARS! My husband, and I, have just started back to work after the mandatory stay-at-home order. I do not have the money to throw at this vehicle to try to figure out what the problem is, only to have it work for just a bit and fail again, per others' posts! You know about this! You've known about this for a long time! You have hundreds of complaints! Recall these things and fix the problem!!! I don't know how I'll start my new job on Monday if I can't get this stupid thing running! Plus, my job is 45 minutes away! I guess I'll drive our Toyota, which has given us ZERO problems and leave my husband to drive this unreliable car,. At least, his job is only 25 minutes away and closer to people who will actually help him. I never thought Chevy would become a company who, obviously, refuses to stand behind their own products! I'll file a federal complaint, like that'll help but, it'll make me feel better. And, just to make me feel even better, I'll be sure to tell everyone about this crap vehicle you made, refuse to stand behind, and refuse to fix at your cost! Thank you for making fools of all of us who put our trust in the Chevrolet name!

So many issues clearly it is a defect that should be handled by the manufacturer. I used to work for a chevy dealership and i know for a fact just how much money is made off of just the diagnosis!!!! so ridiculous, seems like this car was built to be defective just so GM can take more of my money. and the fact that I purchased this car because it was so affordable... had I known it would cost me so much down the road I would have never made this purchase. i cannot afford to keep this car running. so disappointed in the lack of responsibility taken by GM. I know these cars were originally Saturn Vues but still you've decided to sell them so it's frustrating to see that you do not care about the quality you are putting out, just the money you continue to take from us. EVENTUALLY when i've recovered from this financial devastation this car has put me in, I guarantee GM will not receive another cent from me. I have so much patience and have never left such a terrible comment for anything, which I point out to highlight how awful this whole experience has been. but i know GM does not care just as long as they can take my whole net worth to DIAGNOSE an issue that will cost me even more money to "fix" (temporarily, i'm assuming, based off every single comment on this thread). enjoy the money you have taken from me, greedy pigs.

Thanks to Shuvl for the fix (for most). I've read every reply in this thread two weeks or so ago. I have a 2014 Captiva. I immediately added two ground straps, one from the battery to the Driver's shock tower bolt and one from the alt bracket to the passenger shock tower bolt (sanded to bare metal, attached, tightened and then coated in dielectric grease). Two weeks with no problem, and then two days ago my daughter unlocked doors with remote, put key in, turned it, all dead. She disconnected battery and reconnected, everything works. Hopefully there is another fix that can be suggested because this is my 16 y/o daughters daily driver. She knows how to disconnect the battery if it happens, but, I just don't want something to happen while she is driving.
Replace the factory ground wire? I would appreciate anyone's thoughts.
