Chevy dealer looked at my wife's car yesterday. They were aware of the cable problem. They claimed they could not find an issue. Checked battery cables and updated the "software"? When the issue first occurred the 3rd party dealer found a low battery and did a recharge. The dealer verified the battery was still ok.

What I don't understand is why the dealer, who acknowledged that there is a known issue and a simple fix, wouldn't just replace the cables under warranty? I need to know my wife and child are safe when out on the road. Not feeling it here.

The car is still under a 5 day no questions asked return policy. The wife insists we will return the car if it happens again within this time.

Fyi...we are a Chevy family. I am currently driving a Tahoe with 330k miles. We are not just armchair internet critics. We believe in this brand.

Well, one day after the 5 day return cutoff... the radio starts cutting off and on again along with engine light on. Now we own it. The wife is distraught.

Connected with a 30+ year Chevy mechanic. He is telling me he sees this problem often. His money is on the electronics box that the power cable is connected to under the dash. Says he's replaced tons of them. Evidently this box is the power distribution point for the vehicle. Since the car is still under the factory warranty, he did suggest we take all of the info we have gathered and go to a different dealer...one that he has been working with for 20+ years now.

I just took my Captiva in for the same problems mentioned below. Now I have a bill of $538.00 for repairs. Why are there so many people with the same problems and I'm sure with the same repair bills? Why hasn't there been a recall? Is there anything you all can do to help. I'm a single mom, just got diagnosed with Breast Cancer and have a $500 repair bill.

Default 2 months later

So 2 months ago we took the Captiva to our local Chevy dealer they discovered that even with the battery cable clamps tightened all the way they could spin the clamp all the way around the battery post. They said that they could replace the cable for over 500 or they could cut the clamps off and solder on aftermarket clamps for around 130 with all the diagnostic work. We had them do this and for 2 months we have had no problems. But we received no response from Chevrolet as far as sharing the cost. Also found that there are several Chevy trucks from around that time doing the same thing. Sad Chevy won't make it right.

Default Replaced 3 starters in 9 months

My car is about 2 years old (in august) and I'm the only owner.

About eight moths ago my car didn't start after I refuelled it. After the towing car arrived he managed to start it and I drove straight to the workshop, were analyzed the problem and had the solution that they had to replace the starter.

About 3.5 months ago I was on vacation with my family, after a whole day at the beach my car wouldn't start again. This time the towing truck had to tow the car away to he nearest Chevrolet workshop and they replaced the start engine (took 5 weeks to do this).

Two days ago when I thought I'd drive to work, my car didn't start again, so they have to tow the truck to the workshop.

About one hour ago I talked to the technician at the workshop and guess what? He said that the starter had to be replaced. I did argue with him about the previous problems and told him the whole story. But he should just replace the starter and everything should work...

I think this is ridiculous, because there are only three options. There is an electrical problem causing this, the service technicians can't handle their task and basically don't know what they are doing or you make the worst starters in history,

If this a known issue, please advise your service workshop around the world how to fix this.
So dear Chevrolet what should I do? change starter every time I change the oil?

Soon the winter is here and I wouldn't dare turn of the engine while refuelling.

All the workshops I used are authorized certified Chevrolet service workshops.

Dear customer service, I've yet to receive your response for my concern. I had no choice but to pay the dealership for the repairs. Turns out it was defective battery cables. I have the old ones if you like i can have them shipped for you to inspect. Looking forward to your response.
