Default faulty fuel gauge

Hello everybody! I have a Captiva model 2008. Since I bought it in 2013, I noticed it has an issue with its fuel gauge. Initially, it goes "empty" but it does not go on ¨full tank¨ reading. Instead it is limited to a little more than "half tank" reading. I brought it to specialist and have it repaired. I was so happy that it initially went on " full tank reading", but I was surprised that after using it for few days, I ran out of fuel even the fuel gauge was still little lesser than "half tank" reading. Just two weeks ago, I have it checked by specialists from chevrolet dealer and they replaced the sending unit of the main fuel tank. Initially, it was good but I noticed again that it was not indicating a "full tank reading". Same specialists, changed the entire secondary fuel pump but the problem went worse as the fuel guage was stocked in zero and the "check engine" indicator lighted. I was told that the problem now is in the ECM. Nonetheless, aside from this problem, everything is perfectly fine. I still use it everyday and I have no problem with its performance. All I want is to fixed the fuel gauge and the fault indicated by the lighted "check engine". I hope somebody can help me understand this problem.
