Default Low Oil Pressure

My Captiva as 47,000 miles on and recently comes to a low idle and shuts off due to low oil pressure. I took it to the local expert tire shop and I was there 4 times in one day and all 4 times it didn't make it 10 ft before it died. They cleaned the actuators and did 1 flush. It seems to run fine until the engine warms up. could this be because of build up in the engine ?? (Edited and Updated) My last time I was there they said it actuator solenoid valve control circuit they cleaned the solenoids but bogs down still after the 4th time of fixing it.

Does the engine sound like its making noise it didn't before? If not, might just be a bad oil pressure sensor. These new parts often fail before 100k. Made in Asia likely.

No noise the Captiva is a fairly quiet car. Its been a great vehicle. The manager at Expert Tire the local mechanic shop said I needed to do a few economies oil changes at 200,500, and at 2500 miles. But since it didn't make it 10 ft its something else.

At 47000 miles I doubt you have much or any sludge. Have you done motor oil and filter changes on time? If the motor sounds quiet, I don't think anything is permanently damaged or that you have sludge. I think you simply need to change the oil pressure sensor. On lots of motors its easy to do yourself. On others it can be a bit difficult to
do, thanks to the location. I'd change oil with a full synthetic at 5000-6000 miles, depending on how much driving you do. Use a good filter, and I would not use Fram filters.

I'd suggest Purolator, Wix, Bosch or ACDelco brand filters. K&N's are good too.

I drive maybe 300 a month maybe 350 miles I work 90 seconds from home. I change every 4000 miles thru expert tire. I miss older vehicles I used to work on my 86 Chevy C10 manual choke and my 87 Mazda b2000 so simply. I'm 30 years old and newer vehicles can suck it. Expert Tire is one of place out of the few places in town that do it all most of the places do just oil changes. I will look into the oil sensor. thanks for the information.

It's a good thing you live so close to work, but the motor really needs to get up to full operating temperature to get all condensation out. If you can drive it a bit longer somewhere, once in awhile it would be a big plus for longevity.

Also, during the summer months it's a good idea to turn the heater on full for a little while to flush the coolant out of the heater and keep corrosion down to a minimum. Heater cores are expensive and time-consuming to replace. There are also anti-corrosion additives that can help between coolant changes.

When they did clean the solenoids they did find debris.
