new owner P0420 code and parking sensors
hi all
just bought Captiva 2.4L 2012 with 236,000 km.
took it to my mechanic for a quick check - nothing serious, will need a bit of steering components replace.
the dealer took it for MOT, it passed (could be with the "help" of his friends there ).
drove it back home, took my daughter to Violin class, all went OK.
when starting the car to get back home, the check engine light came on.
at home, connected the OBDII reader and got P0420 - powertrain, catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1).
a quick search here discovered that there is a flush for the catalytic converter, the upstream O2 sensor could be the fault, or need to replace catalytic converter.
the car stood at the dealer probably about a few months, maybe even more then 6 months.
could this be as a result of the long standstill?
what exactly is the catalytic flush? is it an additive to the fuel that suppose to help clean the catalytic converter?
someone have the schematics so I could find the location of the O2 sensor, and the PN for it?
another thing, is there a user manual online somewhere?
the car probably had a multimedia screen installed by the PO, there is a reverse camera installed, and replaced back to the OEM infotaintment . the radio have no reception at all and the parking sensors are not working, got the parking sensors light on the dash. I am going to install an android multimedia screen as I need the reverse camera for the wifes trailer, she just bought a heavier trailer, so need to be very accurate with the towing hook and the trailer.
this is the reason I replaced my old Hyundai I30 with the a bit less old Captiva as it can tow 1.5 tons verses 1.2 tons of the I30.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

I meant chemical flush.
a long time ago, some bike or car magazine, made a comprehensive test for fuel additives and classified the different kinds to 3 groups, harmful, doing nothing and doing what it meant to do.
the only thing I remember was that the BG-K44 was almost the only one that actually did something without doing any damage.
as I know nothing about catalytic additives, I start with asking.
for now, I flashed the error code and it did not come back on for now.
installed today a multimedia screen, went for the non Android, known brand stuff for 2 main reasons. the screen is located too far down for AA phone mirroring to be effective, and radio reception is important to me.
went to a local installer, could have done it myself and save a lot of money, but the national post office service is under a crash since black November (Chinese bachelor day, black Friday, cyber Monday and free shipping from Amazon US) so I would have to wait for a long time - over 2 months- to get the stuff, if it will not get lost on the way.
